Cor Hazelaar was born in San Francisco, and lived in Wyoming, Greece, Switzerland, and Oregon before moving to New York City to study illustration at Pratt Institute. She currently lives in Manhattan’s Chinatown with her husband, painter Matt Straub, and daughter Nola.
 
She is the illustrator of the recently released children’s book The Man Who Lived in a Hollow Tree, by Anne Shelby.  She also wrote and illustrated Zoo Dreams and Dogs Everywhere, the latter of which was chosen as a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of 1995.
 
Ms. Hazelaar has worked with public schools and non-profit organizations in doing numerous school visits, talks, and workshops for both children and adults.
 
In addition to writing and illustrating, she does production work for magazines and other print media.
